What documents do I need?
4 min read
The documents you need depend on your service type. Here's a complete checklist for each one. Don't have everything yet? Upload what you have — we'll tell you if anything is missing.
For Imputed Income (property not rented)
- Passport or National ID — identifies you as the taxpayer
- NIE Certificate — your Spanish tax identification number
- IBI Receipt (current year) — shows the cadastral value of your property
- Property Deed (escritura) — confirms ownership. Only needed the first time.
For Rental Income
All of the above, plus:
- Rental contract(s) — one per tenant or rental period
- Rental income records — bank statements or platform reports (Airbnb, Booking)
- Expense receipts (EU/EEA residents only) — mortgage interest, insurance, repairs, management fees, IBI, community fees
For Property Sale
All of the basic documents, plus:
- Original property deed (acquisition) — shows purchase date and price
- Sale deed — shows sale date and price
- 3% retention certificate (Modelo 211) — confirms buyer's withholding
- Acquisition costs — notary, registry, agent fees at purchase
- Sale costs — notary, registry, agent, plusvalía, energy certificate
- Improvement receipts — if you made structural improvements
Tips for better uploads
- Scanned PDF is best — clearest and easiest to read
- Phone photos work too — but make sure the document is flat, well-lit, and all text is readable
- Upload complete documents — all pages, not just the first one
- One file per document type — don't combine different documents in one file
